Lemonade’s Giveback to Evolve Creative Alliance<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Evolve Creative Alliance<\/a> partners with public and charter schools to provide students with a positive environment and a holistic experiential education. They emphasize the power of compassionate communication, positive coping mechanisms, constructive hobbies, and respectful relationships in order to help students attain happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the Giveback to Evolve Creative Alliance, the Lemonade community bought a week of supplies for hands-on activities and experiential learning for 1st and 2nd graders in Evolve Creative Alliance’s Explore Express Afterschool program. This donation will give Evolve Creative Alliance the resources they need to provide a cutting-edge education, enabling students and families to reach their highest potential.<\/p>\n

The 2017 Lemonade Giveback<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Through Giveback to Evolve Creative Alliance, the Lemonade community bought a week of supplies for hands-on activities and experiential learning for 1st and 2nd graders in their Explore Express After School Program. This donation will give Evolve Creative Alliance the resources they need to provide a cutting-edge education, enabling students and families to reach their highest potential. Now that\u2019s something to be proud of!<\/span><\/p>\n

Our total Giveback for 2017 was $53,174, and this number calls for some context: this amounts to 10.2% of our revenue. As a point of reference, the Fortune 100 give 0.08% of their revenues each year (<\/span>CECP<\/span><\/a> p.36). So if year-one is anything to go by, Giveback has the potential to 100X that benchmark. Time will tell, but early indications are encouraging. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We had 21 cause-centric-groups as of June 30, and 14 (66.7%) received a Giveback. <\/span>Here\u2019s a fun fact: among these 14 causes, an average of 18% of premiums were given to charity.<\/span> These funds can go a long way when put in the right hands. <\/span><\/p>\n

But it\u2019s more than just numbers. Giveback amounts to a change in kind, because it isn\u2019t dependent on profits (Lemonade hasn\u2019t turned a profit yet). We think of Giveback as a social contract among our community, where the size and allocation is determined not by our big profits or big hearts, but by the good fortune and good behavior of our members. Remember, it\u2019s not our money.<\/p>\n

As our Chief Behavioral Officer Dan Ariely explained, \u201cit\u2019s money our community has entrusted to us, first and foremost to help our members recover from unfortunate events in their lives, and secondly, to help the less fortunate in our broader community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
