When is a good time to ask for a raise? There are a couple of good answers for this, but one of them is to do it just after we’ve done something great for the company.

We have this principle called reciprocity, which is one of the most wonderful parts of human nature. It’s this idea that when someone does something for us, we feel pressure to reciprocate. We feel pressure to do something back for them.

So, think about it, when you’ve done something great for the company, your boss might feel the need to reciprocate. By you asking them for a raise, you give them the opportunity to reciprocate.

So, wait until you’ve done something great, and once you’ve done it – go and ask for a raise.
