This guide compiles publicly available, third-party data to estimate the real-world cost of Toyota ownership in Houston, Texas.

Vehicle pricing and specifications (MSRP, trims, powertrains, MPG, standard features) were sourced from Cars.com model pages for the 2026 RAV4, Camry, Corolla, and Highlander.³ MSRP figures were used as a consistent baseline to avoid dealer-specific pricing distortions.

Tax rates were sourced from the Comptroller of Texas¹. Title and registration fees were sourced from Texas License Plate². Estimated total purchase costs reflect realistic out-the-door ranges but do not assume manufacturer incentives, dealer discounts or dealer fees.

Fuel costs were calculated using combined MPG ratings and a standardized annual mileage assumption of 14,000 miles, reflecting above-average urban driving. Gas prices were set at $2.37 per gallon, based on Houston metro averages from GasBuddy as of February 5, 2026.⁴ Any hybrid costs reflect gasoline use only.

Maintenance costs use Toyota’s brand-level national average ($441/year) from RepairPal⁵.
